HITEC Sensor Solutions, a leading engineering service provider for a variety of sensor installations for strain measurement, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Sensor Developments —a Michigan based company specializing in custom strain gauge based force and torque measurement solutions for many industries. The acquisition is in line with HITEC’s projected growth plan and creates a unique opportunity for HITEC to enhance its current facilities and supporting services with the addition of the A2LA accredited calibration laboratory.

Doug Unkel, President of HITEC explained, “We have looked for a solid organization with similar skills operating within alternative markets to those traditionally approached by HITEC. SDI brings new products and a diversified customer base which complements HITEC’s planned growth.”

HITEC and SDI are focused on providing design and manufacturing services to a wide array of industries that include automotive, aerospace, medical, nuclear and textile among others. The additional A2LA accredited calibration laboratory provides their worldwide customer base an enhanced selection of custom products and services.

HITEC, a portfolio company of Safety Technology Holdings, specializes in sensor expertise that includes foil strain gauges, free-filament strain gauges, semi-conductor strain gauges, RTD sensors, thermocouples, heat flux sensors and related strain measurement sensor application expertise for custom transducers and strain gauge instrumentation solutions. President and CEO of Safety Technology Holding, Christopher O’Connor explained, “We are very pleased to assimilate SDI into our family of companies. SDI’s many years of mechanical engineering experience, transducer design and manufacturing expertise in Lake Orion, Michigan aligns well with the respected capabilities at HITEC in Littleton, Massachusetts.” In addition, both HITEC and SDI complement a sister division with STH; Humanetics Innovative Solutions, which utilizes strain gauge instrumentation within their worldwide safety crash equipment. Christopher O’Connor is also the President and CEO of Humanetics.
