Torque is an expression of rotational load. The sensing element of any torque sensor is a torsional spring element. Torque can be present with very small amounts of rotational displacement. For measurements where the rotation of the article being loaded is less than 360°, a reaction torque sensor can be used. A reaction torque sensor has no rotational speed limitations, is often lighter in weight, and installation is greatly simplified. Further, it is typically a far less costly solution when continuous rotation is not required. Typical applications include absorbing dynamometers, materials testing machines, and testing of various rotary actuators.
While HITEC offers a variety of standard designs, we can also provide a modified version of our standard products, or design a custom product for your unique application.
